According to the British newspaper The Times, Toyota Motor Corp. (NYSE: TM) is considering a production halt at its U.K manufacturing plant.

The Times cited an unidentified source as saying that Toyota sales in the U.K. have been hit so hard that Toyota Motor Corp. may halt production there while it deals with the recall situation.

The Times said that the auto maker will shut two of its U.S. factories and is looking at shutting down some of its European production as well.

Toyota has recalled over 8.5 million cars so far and the bad news keeps coming, with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHSTA) in the U.S. recently saying that there have been 34 deaths related to Toyota’s problem vehicles.
