Free website stocks and ETFs scanner from the CBOE (Chicago Board Options Exchange) that lists stocks and ETFs with volatility characteristics. Each scan shows a basic table listing: stock or ETF, link to its quote, link to its news, current implied volatility, 2-day change in implied volatility, 30-day change in implied volatility, 30-day historical volatility, and 90-day historical volatility. Volatilities aren't just important for option traders but stock traders as well. When volatility is extreme or changes from historical behavior, this may suggest that the market is expecting an event or news that may significantly affect the stock's price. For option traders, comparing the implied volatility vs. historical volatility can show situations where the options are cheap or expensive.
There are 3 major types of preset scans:
This set of scans will find and list stocks and ETFs whose volatility is increasing or decreasing over the short and long term. Comparing implied volatilities vs. historical volatilities, relatively low implied volatilities may indicate the options are undervalued while relatively high implied volatilities may show that options are overvalued.
Implied Volatility Moves
This scan finds and lists the largest daily and monthly implied volatility moves. Large moves in implied volatility may show that traders are expecting some market moving news or event.
Ranks stocks and ETFs based on the 20-day implied volatility from high to low and low to high.
